Primo® XT transparent impact-resistant acrylic from PyraSied is available from stock in various thicknesses. Acrylic, also known as PLEXIGLAS®/ Perspex®, is a very beautiful material and we are happy to share it with everyone. What is so special about extra impact-resistant Plexiglass? Normal acrylic is already super strong, but this variant is even more impact-resistant and therefore more difficult to break. Furthermore, beauty is in the clarity of the material. It is much clearer than glass! Acrylic has a light transmission of 92%, which is very high. Plexiglass is therefore optically very pure material. You can always see that in the applications. Acrylic is also beautiful in combination with light. Acrylic catches the light, guides the light and plays with the light. In short, light makes acrylic live. Acrylate / Plexiglass is particularly durable due to a very long colourfastness and service life.
Are you looking for more impact-resistant material? Then choose polycarbonate. Polycarbonate is known for its enormous impact-resistance. It is 250 times stronger than glass in the same thickness.
When do you choose extruded (XT) acrylic?
The advantages of extruded XT acrylic sheets (plexiglass) is that it hardly has a thickness tolerance. This means that the sheet always has the thickness you ordered. For applications where the material is in a profile or a flat surface is required, we recommend the use of extruded acrylic. Because XT acrylic is produced in large quantities, XT sheets are relatively slightly cheaper than cast (GS) sheets. Do you want more choice of thicknesses, colours and surfaces? Then you can choose cast acrylic.
Impact-resistant acrylic sheets are available in 2, 3, 4 and 5mm thick acrylic with a maximum sheet size of 3050x2050mm. Other thicknesses can be ordered with a minimum order quantity. Beside scratch-resistant acrylic, we also have standard clear, impact-resistant and anti-reflex acrylic. Clear acrylic is in stock in thicknesses of 1,5mm up to 20mm. The acrylic can be ordered cut to size via our webshop.
Are you looking for thicker acrylic? Then you can choose acrylic block, this is cast acrylic up to a thickness of 90mm. Are you looking for acrylic that is thinner than 1mm? Then you can choose precision acrylic Topacryl®.
PyraSied also offers an environmentally friendly alternative to cast acrylic, Greencast® 100% recycled cast acrylic. Greencast® has exactly the same properties as normal cast acrylic but is the green, circular choice in the acrylic world. Greencast® is offered in clear and different colours, but also in white, black and opal.
Clear acrylic is widely used as additional windows, temporary glazing, interior glazing, showcases, cover sheets, displays, furniture and wall presentations. Do you want to be inspired with all the possibilities with acrylic? Then take a look at our Acrylic community for various examples of applications with acrylic.
Acrylic is very easy to fabricate. The possible fabrications are cutting, milling, laser-cutting, oven bending, bonding, drilling, faceting, polishing, sanding and printing. When bending XT acrylic, pay attention to the direction of extrusion. XT acrylic can be curved best perpendicular to the extrusion direction. The direction of extrusion is parallel to the long side. These fabrications can be performed by PyraSied if desired. We deliver from our excellently equipped workshop – where high-tech machinery and traditional craftsmanship ensure optimum results, completely tailored to your drawing or design. Well-known brand names for extruded acrylic are PLEXIGLAS®, Primo® and Nudec® PMMA.

There are two main types of acrylic, cast and extruded acrylic. An advantage of cast acrylic is that it is easy to produce in small quantities, which offers flexibility. Extruded acrylic has the advantage that it hardly knows any thickness tolerance.
Acrylic is optically more pure than polycarbonate. Polycarbonate, on the other hand, is much more impact-resistant than acrylic, but yellows faster.
