Satin polycarbonate tubes are fire retardant (B1 certificate), vandal-proof and extremely impact resistant. Because this tube contains opal pigment and has a satin surface, the tube spreads light beautifully and makes it diffuse! This satin opal tube has a light transmission of 65%. The tube is less appropriate for outside applications because the tube is limited UV-stabilized.
The satin PC tubes can be ordered with a minimum order quantity of 150 meters. The minimum purchase depends on the diameter and wall thickness. Diameters 30, 40 and 45mm can, for example, be ordered with a minimum purchase of 1500 meters. Pipes with a diameter of 500mm can be ordered with a minimum purchase of 150 meters. Polycarbonate tubes are mainly used for technical applications because of their impact resistance. The polycarbonate tube satin opal is very appropriate for lighting fixtures where impact-resistance is very important. Acrylic is optically more pure than polycarbonate. Polycarbonate, on the other hand, is much more impact-resistant than acrylic, but yellows faster.
No, this is not advisable. Polycarbonate tubes do not have a UV filter and the material will yellow quickly.
It is possible to order samples of clear, satin or opal tubes. These samples are meant to be able to look at the type of tube and its surface. Since we only sell tubes and rods per full length, we do not have residues. That is why it is not possible to order samples of every diameter and wall thickness. We have samples available in one diameter and wall thickness.
