Ecocrylic® XT is a clear extruded acrylic material that is almost entirely made from recycled XT acrylic. We are extremely proud that we are the first supplier in the Netherlands to add this beautiful, high-quality material to our range. Ecocrylic® is made from at least 70% recycled pre-and post-consumer acrylic and 30% virgin (not recycled) acrylic. The XT acrylic used for these sheets comes from used LCD screens and production waste.
PyraSied considers it important that anyone who wants to use acrylic in their idea or product can also choose a recycled variant. That is why we are continuously working on expanding our recycled acrylic collection. We are therefore happy with the addition of Ecocrylic® to our environmentally-friendly plastics collection. Recycled acrylic such as Ecocrylic® is sustainable and an especially green choice in the acrylic world. The recycled acrylic is just as crystal clear, colourfast and UV resistant as the non-recycled variant (normal extruded acrylic). The great advantage of this material is that it can be recycled time and time again without losing any quality. It is a fully circular material. Of course, PyraSied can take the material back after use to recycle it again. All the reasons to choose recycled Ecocrylic®!
In addition to Ecocrylic® XT acrylic, we also have Greencast® recycled acrylic in our range of environmentally-friendly plastics. Greencast® consists of 100% recycled cast acrylic (GS) and can be ordered in multiple colours, thicknesses and surface structures. Cast acrylic is produced per sheet, which offers flexibility. This makes multiple options possible with this type of acrylic. Ecocrylic® is made from extruded acrylic, also known as XT. XT acrylic has hardly any thickness tolerance, which is useful if the material has to be placed in a profile, for example. In addition, this material is produced in a full-continuous process, making XT acrylic cheaper than GS acrylic.
Ecocrylic® recycled extruded acrylic is currently in stock in various thicknesses from 2 to 6 mm with a maximum sheet size of 3050x2050mm. We are working on expanding this collection with a black and white version. Please contact our sales department if you are interested in purchasing this eco-friendly material.
Are you looking for recycled acrylic in a specific colour or other surface structures? Then you can choose Greencast® recycled cast acrylic. This material is available in various variations such as clear, satin, white, black, colours and opal. Greencast® can also be produced in other colours, thicknesses and types such as metallic, translucent or satinglas. A minimum order quantity applies for this.
Ecocrylic® is recycled extruded acrylic with all the good characteristics of virgin extruded acrylic. This allows recycled acrylic to be used for the same applications as normally extruded (not recycled) acrylic. The material is particularly suitable for projects where sustainability is very important. Ecocrylic® is often used in shop interiors, stand- and set constructions and the signing branch as secondary windows, glazing, showcases, displays, protective covers, furniture and wall presentations for example. This material is less suitable for very demanding optical applications such as light guide plates. For this, we advise using non-recycled acrylic.
See our reference projects for examples of applications with our material.
Ecocrylic® can be fabricated. The possible fabrications are cutting, milling, laser-cutting, bonding, line bending, drilling, faceting, polishing, sanding and printing. Ecocrylic® cannot be bent or tempered in an oven. However, line bending is no problem at all.

Ecocrylic® is the official brand name of recycled extruded acrylic.
The transparent plastic acrylic is known under various well-known brand names such as PLEXIGLAS® and Perspex®. At PyraSied you can recognize this plastic by the following brand names: Primo®, Versato®, SetaLetter®, Setacryl®, Satinglas®, Altuglas® and Astariglas®.
Primo® and Versato® are PyraSied’s own brand names for extruded (Primo) or cast (Versato) acrylic.

PyraSied has committed itself for more than three years to taking back acrylic for recycling. The remains and the used acrylic are collected in a large bin and then sent to the recycling plant. The depolymerization process starts there.
Molecular chains are cracked by the heating process. The PMMA (acrylic) residues are hereby returned to a liquid state.
The next step is distillation. The impurities are separated, whereby the original monomer is obtained. After this R-MMA remains: Recycled Methyl Methacrylate monomer. This is used to make new recycled acrylic sheets.
The result: fully recycled acrylic sheets made from 100% post-and pre-consumer acrylic. We call this material Greencast®.
A dye is added to the coloured sheets. This gives the sheet a different colour. No colourant is added to clear sheets.
Often, the quality of recycled material is less than the original. This is not the case with acrylic. The quality is the same as the quality of normal extruded acrylic. In addition, the cost price of Ecocrylic® is the same as the "virgin" variant. The process to produce Ecocrylic® and standard extruded acrylic is the same, but the raw material is different. That is why we offer Ecocrylic® for the exact same price.
We are regularly asked if Ecocrylic® and Greencast® are really "recycled" and that it is not a fake. We can prove that this is really not the case.
The supplier of Ecocrylic® is not only a supplier of recycled plastics but also a recycler of acrylics. PyraSied production waste is collected by our supplier and used to produce new acrylic sheets. This is a completely closed circle. Our supplier aims to be able to issue a certificate in the summer of 2020, proving that the material that is supplied for recycling is fully used in this material.
No, the properties are completely the same. Recycled acrylic is less suitable for very demanding applications such as light guide plates. But besides that, the material is suitable for the same applications.
Ecocrylic® cannot be produced in other colours, but our recycled cast acrylic Greencast® can! We even have more than 17 colours standard in stock in various thicknesses. Greencast® can also be produced in other colours, thicknesses and types such as metallic, translucent or satin. A minimum order quantity applies for this. Ask our Sales & Support department (sales@pyrasied.nl) for more information.
Acrylic is very easy to fabricate. Fabrication possibilities: cutting, milling, laser-cutting, bonding, drilling, faceting, polishing, sanding and printing. Unfortunately, Greencast® cannot be bent by draping. Clear Greencast® and Ecocrylic® turn slightly yellow on the ends as soon as you bend it in an oven. However, line bending or tempering is no problem at all.

Acrylic is very easy to maintain with the use of a soft microfiber cloth and a mild household cleaner. The use of brushes, sponges and abrasive cleaning agents is not recommended, as this can cause tiny scratches. Accumulation of these types of scratches ultimately gives a dull result. However, this can be remedied by polishing the scratched surface. It is also possible to fill in light scratches with our VuPlex plastic cleaner, for example. For more information, see our cleaning instructions.
